More memories !.........

Many people are still visiting the library to look at the display containing peoples memories and photographs. We are still recieving some photos and memories, here are the latest.

Once a week we had a bath in the upstairs of the swimming baths, known as the slipper baths for six pence.

I remember the caretakers at the public baths Mr and Mrs Rogers, he could be really strict. In the winter the water was removed from the baths and it was covered with boards and used as a Reporatory Theatre, we visited it once a week.

I remember as a child playing in the builders yard at the back of Mansells shop !

The fire station was opposite Mansells and alongside was a council yard where they kept a huge steam roller which shook the ground when it came past the houses.
